Founding Team

Working together to develop the artistic and technological company Danse Bloom, Valérie Poulin and Robbert-Jan Brems are two creative and innovative entrepreneurs.

Together, they represent the perfect duo combining art and technology. They want to develop an application that will bring a new standard to the dance industry.

Valérie

COFOUNDER & CEO

Valérie has an artistic background of more than 10 years in dance education and understands the realities of dance artists, aspiring dancers and dance schools. Being a Canadian cultural worker, Valérie is interested in the potential reach of technology and how it can uplift the art sector. She uses her leadership to bring together a team that shares the same desire: to innovate in the field of dance while creating connection opportunities for all actors of the artistic ecosystem.

Robbert-Jan

COFOUNDER & CTO

Originally from Belgium, Robbert-Jan is a breakdancer and senior technical artist with more than a dozen years of professional experience in the technological field. He has worked for companies such as Unity Technologies, Codemasters, Eidos-Montreal, EA Vancouver, and more recently, Epic Games. He decided to create Danse Bloom™ to bring technological innovation into the conversations of the dance community and considers that dance is a powerful creation tool, both for the artistic sector and for the economy.

Our Story

Founded in 2018 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Danse Bloom was originally focused on producing dance events for the Vancouver and Montreal’s community. Since its creation, Danse Bloom has held three youth conferences in Montreal and five in Vancouver, addressed 26 topics in their dance blog and showcased 50 Canadian professional dance artists who shared their journeys with the community.

In 2020, after having faced the precariousness of the artistic industry due to the pandemic context, further highlighting the need to achieve financial self-sufficiency among artists, Danse Bloom is undertaking a technological pivot to propose a solution to the community that will allow artists to unlock new revenue channels and promote their practice.

In 2021, due to the dynamism of the Quebec arts ecosystem and the technology sector, Danse Bloom decided to move its head office to Quebec and join the Montreal artistic ecosystem.

In 2023, the company presents its mobile application.
