Founder & Curator
Valérie is a québécoise with a passion for dance since she was seven years old. She has over 13 years of experience working with youth, first as a Dance Teacher and then as Coordinator for National and International exchanges programs. Dancing helped her though difficult challenges, developed her leadership skills, built her self-confidence and made her a creative problem solver.
By starting Danse Bloom, Valérie wants to offer a collaborative space for youth to discover their skills and find ways to stay active in dance. She wants to highlight the human behind the dancer and create raw conversations about common challenges.
Valérie completed the Simonson Method of Teacher Training in New York with Lynn Simonson. She has an AEC in Dance Education and a DEC in Dance from Cégep de Drummondville. She completed her BA in Communications and Human Resources Management at McGill University, UQAM and ULB in Belgium.
Originally from Belgium, Robbert-Jan grew up doing urban freestyling. Breakdance taught him how constraints lead to creativity and being part of a team demonstrate diversity. Freestyling allowed him to see positivity in failure. Now, he's using this knowledge in his career in the creative tech industry working on films and games.
By joining Danse Bloom, Robb wants to bring technology and innovation to the conversation. Highlighting opportunities that tie dance into other industries is fundamental in the development of our youth. He is seeking out other like-minded organizations to collaborate with on this adventure. Reach out to him: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Communications & Community Engagement
Born and raised around the Vancouver film scene, Kiana comes from a production background. Celebrating the completion of large productions led her to discover her love of events and community. In 2014, she co-founded a local non-profit organization, Community for a Sustainable World. She lead their local community initiatives for several years before producing her first short film and screening event, commYOUnity™ in 2017.
She is our personal loud speaker and will be shouting all things Danse Bloom from the rooftops. As the digital face of Danse Bloom, she will be sharing updates as we count down to #bloomday. By applying her background in leadership and project management, she hopes to inspire others to find their bloom.
Erin is a 16 year old girl who has loved dancing, music, and performing all her life. She trains extensively in all forms of dance for many hours each week, and competes on the local and regional scale. Dance has always been an impactful outlet for Erin; she has developed self-confidence and creativity, and is constantly learning and growing through her passion of movement.
As Community Activator, Erin acts as advocate for Bloomies. Don't be shy next time you see her and say hello! She brings creative ideas and supports the Bloom Squad with decision making. Erin is honoured to be involved with Danse Bloom and hopes to highlight and start conversations about all aspects of young dancers and their communities.
